The Antique Dining Table
The antique dining table is the main gathering place in your home. It is where family and friends come together to eat, laugh, talk, and enjoy each other’s company.
The trestle table dates back to medieval times and is one of the earliest surviving type of dining table. Its top was made of long wooden planks that rested on trestles and could be dismantled and moved to make room for other activities. By the mid 16th century the refectory table evolved. It is a more permanent table hand crafted out of oak or walnut. An elongated table that became popular all over Europe. The pedestal table was developed early in the 18th century. It is typically round, but may be square or oval and is distinguished by a single, central column or cylinder shaped support. The antique or reproduction dining table is not simply a piece of furniture. It touches our lives and we become a chapter in its long enduring history. We are its keeper to preserve and treasure it. Then we pass it along for the next chapter to be written.
A bespoke table can be made any size to fit any dining room or kitchen in many types of wood including oak, pine, cherry etc., The ‘Antique of the future’

Farmhouse table
The Farmhouse Table
The original farmhouse style tables are simple, with clean lines, and not too fancy. The most common shape of these tables is the original rectangle.
The Farmhouse Kitchen table is a great decorative piece for your home. If your interior is decorated in a style such as country, rustic, contemporary, or country French, a farmhouse table would give a nice touch to your home.
Reproduction versions are available as to find a truly antique piece is becoming more difficult, so a nice alternative is a reproduced one. The styles and sizes can also be customized to your specific home style. The colour / height / leg design can be altered to your particular taste. If you want the antique look without the expense, distressing the timber is also available and makes the table look hundreds of years old.
Available in reclaimed pine or solid oak the traditional farmhouse table will never fail to delight and add charm and charisma to any home.

Monks Bench
A monks bench is a piece of furniture where a tabletop is set onto a chest in such a way that when the table was not in use, the top pivots to a vertical position and becomes the back of a settle or bench. This was a very useful form at a time when many homes had a large room used for multiple functions, because it allowed a large dining table to swing up and out of the way. With its’ high back it offered protection from draughts in old medieval buildings.
Also known as a settle, usually with arms and a high back, long enough to accommodate three or four sitters.
Usually constructed of oak they were very solid and durable, and have survived over the years. It is now possible not only to have an antique bench (although these are harder to find) but also to have a reproduction piece still made of solid oak and available either plain or carved.
